In making my abstract sculptures in glass, I explore tension and balance of contrasting forms. I juxtapose the aesthetic beauty of shapes found in biology and the human form with designs found in manufactured products. In doing so, I strive to disrupt the symmetry and predictability of these forms, while preserving the integrity of the sculpture.
With my hollow sculptures, it creates an extra dimension, enabling the interior to become a feature. It also allows light to reflect on the inside surfaces of the piece. This looks very effective when lit underneath with a LED light.
