Louise Herdman, Mosaic Artist and Tutor
The love for mosaics began in 2002 and the fascination continues…
From the beginning I used a variety of materials in my mosaics for contrast, texture and to catch the light in different ways, however it was not until 2005 that I began including stained glass and the wide range of glass tiles that are available. Glass introduces beautiful colour, texture and varying reflections, combined with pushing square tiles to form sweeps and curves, I continue to explore and develop my own style of mosaic art.
In 2006 I discovered a love for teaching mosaics and then opened a teaching studio in 2008. The reward of inspiring people to mosaic in their own way shows in the variety of stunning mosaics created during classes and workshops. Recently the studio moved to the Old Chronicle Building on the corner of Drews Ave and Rutland St, Wanganui, just along from well known Chronicle Glass.
